Powerpoint Listener

  1. Is the virtPresenter only workable with PowerPoint-Presentations?
    The virtPresenter is only workable with PowerPoint-Presentations.
  2. Is it possible to leave the presentation and open other files without stopping the recording?
    Yes, the PowerPoint-Presentation can be left without stopping the recording. However the things that are shown with another program won’t be recorded.
  3. Will Videos / Audio-Files that are included in the presentation be recorded by the virtPresenter?
    If the Notebook is connected to the sound system, the sound will be recorded. This contains both Audio- and Video-Files. The recording of the Video-Screen of the included Video-Files isn’t supported.
  4. Does the virtPresenter work with Note-Programm like Mindmap?
    One can use Mindmap, however notes that are taken in Mindmap won’t be recorded.
    This obtains any kind of other software, the embedding into the virtPresenter isn’t supported.
  5. What can be done, if the virtPresenter does not start?
    Restart the computer. Furthermore one should check, if the .Net 2.0 or higher is installed. If .Net 2.0 isn’t installed this should be made up. Please notice the advices for the purchase and the setup of .Net 2.0 in the Support.
  6. How can network problems be solved?
    It has to be checked, if a network cable is connected correctly to both lectern and laptop.
    If necessary call the computing center and ask, if there might be general network problems.
  7. PowerPoint does not start by the virtPresenter, what can be done?
    Check if the specified PowerPoint-File actually exists. If the PowerPoint-File is very large it is possible that it lasts very long until PowerPoint starts by the virtPresenter. When there is just one set of slides for all lectures it is reasonable to divide it into several smaller sets of slides for the respective lectures.
  8. How is the connection between video and slides?
    The video is recorded permanently. If a slide is forwarded in the presentation, the virtPresenter is going to arrange every corresponding slide to the recorded video until the forwarding in the presentation.
  9. Which other media can a lecturer use for the recording with the virtPresenter?
    A lecturer can use the overhead projector, the board and any other media. It has to be considered that the scripture on slides or at the board might not be really visible on the video. The lecturer should try to write as big and as clear as possible and to abstain from slides with small scripture.
  10. How can I make the video available for the students?
    The video that has been recorded by the virtPresenter is provided as a simple link. This link can be placed on the homepage of the lecturer or in the respective Wiki-Panel in StudIP.
